Yesterday’s Corp Conditions report from USDA reflected the positive impact recent precipitation has had on crops, with conditions for corn, soybeans, and spring wheat all rebounding. That, as expected, pressured markets overnight but that weakness was short-lived as new weather threats continue to emerge. The 1-3-day precipitation outlook features heavy showers for the southwestern Plains and southeast Corn Belt but very light volumes elsewhere, most notably drought-beleaguered Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. Additionally, the forecast turns much hotter and drier for most of the major crop-producing regions over the 6-10 and 8-14-day forecasts. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
