Over the weekend, India announced a ban on wheat exports following the massive heat waves that have severely hurt the country’s yields. Before the ban, India was expected to be a marginal but significant – especially this year – exporter of about 10 MMT. USDA’s May WASDE predicted the country’s exports at 8.5 MMT. Practically, world wheat availability has fallen the equivalent of India’s 10-MMT export program and futures reacted bullishly to this news. Overnight, U.S. and Paris wheat futures gapped higher at their open and the U.S. markets traded to limit-gains before retreating before the day session. Infrastructure investment due diligence
On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
