Wheat Wheat continues to be scarce in general across Latin America, but especially in Argentina. It is strange to see Argentina’s export volumes practically equal to those of Brazil. It is even possible that the cumulative December/January total may see Brazil exporting more wheat than Argentina. In December, Argentina exported 0.85 MMT versus the 0.805 MMT from Brazil. Although rains at the end of the crop cycle partly affected the quality of Brazilian wheat, the country ended up with a great season. Production will eventually be around 9 MMT and it is very likely the country will export around 2.5 MMT for 2022/23. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments. On behalf of numerous clients, WPI has not only assisted in identifying strategic paths but also advised their implementation.
