Macroeconomics and Politics This weekend, Argentina’s primary elections were held to determine candidates for the general elections scheduled for October, which will define the President, governors, and part of the Chambers (Congress). The results were surprising as Javier Milei (liberal party and anti-system) got more than 30 percent of the votes in what was viewed as a referendum on the fact that the current administration is doing a very bad job. Mr. Milei’s election was a surprise as he ran without much infrastructure and no past record.
