Corn The old crop corn market did not suffer any big changes during the last week. There were a couple of sellers still willing to see demand out of Upriver ports for August/September shipments. Open prices stand at -35 CZ, but selling ideas are close to -40 CZ. There is little demand for spot shipments as most buyers already have covered their positions and are currently looking for October/November and December shipments.Only a couple trades -- not more than 0.07 MMT -- during the week in review. In our last report, as much as 0.25 MMT were reported. It now seems that demand will not appear -- at least not at these premiums. Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development. WPI’s methodology included a series of interviews with regional grain elevators and seed consultants.
