Wheat Argentina’s wheat area received some rain last week (15-50 mm) but precipitation was isolated to the southern agricultural area. The effect is that planting will be slightly delayed as soil moistures in the area were already high. In the meantime, Cordoba and Santa Fe, along with a large portion of the core wheat-growing area, are still suffering from drought. The crop is developing more slowly than normal and is varied in development/condition. The drought is also reducing the efficacy of fertilizers and fields planted with low soil moisture in hopes of better rainfall are suffering the most. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
