Market Update Last week, the market was very slow in Brazil, almost getting into Christmas mode. Even the Chinese were pretty quiet. Crush margins in China, although still good, dropped from their highs. On the other hand, all of the conversations between China and the U.S. about a trade war solution kept buyers alert to a possible drop in basis levels. In fact, the spot basis dropped in Brazil once it was realized that China would not need to buy any more January positions from them. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment.
