Mediterranean/Middle East/North Africa/Africa – MEA Region Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC) has increased its ownership in Olam Agri from 35 percent to 80 percent with an option to buy the remaining shares within three years. Olam Agri is Singapore-based with annual sales of about $ 24 billion. Saudi Arabia’s Arabian Company for Agriculture, a major poultry company, will be offering 30 percent of its shares in its IPO, initial public offering, at $13.33 per share. Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development. WPI’s methodology included a series of interviews with regional grain elevators and seed consultants.
