Mediterranean/Middle East/North Africa/Africa – MEA Region Egypt is closing several collection centers for this year’s wheat crop due to a drop in available wheat for purchase. At the end of last week, the total government purchases were at a little over 3.9 MMT against the government target of 4 to 5 MMT. The lower-than-expected government wheat purchases could result in increased wheat imports being required in 2025. Egypt reportedly purchased “several hundred thousand” tons of wheat in private negotiations through Mostakbal Misr. The wheat is said to be from Ukraine, Russia, and Romania. Infrastructure investment due diligence
On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
