Mediterranean/Middle East/North Africa/Africa – MEA Region Iraq’s 2025 wheat crop is above the five-year average at a total of 5.1 MMT which is expected to result in 2025/26 wheat imports dropping by about 9 percent to 2.0 MMT, according to the FAO. The past two wheat crops in Iraq have both been above the five-year average of 4.5 MMT. Turkey is reportedly the world’s third largest pasta producer after Italy and the U.S. It is very interesting to see that Egypt is the fourth largest pasta producer. Turkey produces 1.97 MMT of pasta while Egypt shows 1.20 MMT. On the consumption side, Tunisia is seen as the second largest consumer per capita following Italy. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
