Mediterranean/Middle East/North Africa/Africa – MEA Region Syria cancelled its tender for 200,000 MT of wheat. No reason was given for the cancellation but a new tender is expected shortly. Turkey’s wheat and barley production are seen as lower for 2025, by the FAO, with wheat production down 1.2 MMT to 19.6 MMT and barley down by 600,000 MT to 7.5 MMT. Due to the different growing periods, maize production will be up by 400,000 MT to 8.5 MMT. Cereal imports for 2025/26 are seen increasing by 23 percent to 16.2 MMT, including wheat imports of 10.3 MMT. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
