It's been a long and quiet week in both the markets and market-making (or breaking) news, but here are some things to keep you up at night:

Do you ever wonder why weather services issue special weather bulletins headlining that cold temperatures might cause damage to winter wheat and then the story itself says there will probably not be any damage? I guess it's slow these days for everyone. It is going to get cold a long ways south and east over the next several days, and there is little snow cover, as the map below shows. This cold weather follows a period of some warm temperatures across the southern Plains, which remains dry. The problem is it's too early to make any reasonable assessment of possible crop damage.
