That effort has been very successful as USDA estimates its pork and chicken meat production will reach 3.05 MMT and 4 MMT, respectively, in 2018 versus 2.707 MMT and 2.31 MMT, respectively, in 2010. While the increased production has caused a significant decrease in imports, it has also resulted in domestic pork and chicken meat consumption rising 11.5 percent and 38.7 percent, respectively, since 2010. WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
