Temperatures soared across the Northern Plains this past weekend and reached the 70s in many areas. The snow melt was rapid and rivers were rising quickly. Fargo, North Dakota was featured on almost every major news network and the Weather Channel because of the rising Red River. Contrary to what you might read elsewhere, there will be little problem with flooding across the Northern Plains this spring. The Red River will crest in a day or two at 37 feet (probably lower than that). This is a full 5-6 feet below some crest predictions made just 10 days ago.
