Hogs and Pigs Report Coming USDA will release its quarterly hogs and pigs inventory report after trading closes today. The inventory as of 1 June is estimated to be 103 percent of the same period last year, and market hogs are forecast at 103.1 percent of year-ago levels. If realized, both would eclipse the previous records for the March-May quarter set in 2017 (the data goes back to 1964). Meanwhile, sows kept for breeding are estimated to be 101.7 percent of last year. The sector continues to expand with more hogs, pigs and slaughter capacity all coming.
