EU leaders made great strides yesterday in their efforts to deal with a multitude of challenges, although few of the outcomes appear to be a panacea. Refugees: Funding refugee processing centers in southern Europe and North Africa will create structure out of chaos, but it does not solve the root of the problem any more than Donald Trump’s great barrier wall. Positioning border processing of refugees in Europe or prosecuting them in the U.S. means that immigrant pressures will continue. Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development. WPI’s methodology included a series of interviews with regional grain elevators and seed consultants.
