CORN: USDA forecast U.S. corn production for 2022/23 at 14.4 billion bushels, down 146 million from the July projection. The season’s first survey-based corn yield forecast, at 175.4 bushels per acre, is 1.6 bushels below last month’s projection. The primary reason is reduced corn yield estimates in Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, and Ohio. Supply is estimated to fall more than use, and the result is that the ending stocks forecast is reduced 82 million bushels to 1.4 billion. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
